Rémy has drawn and painted all his life and studied painting with various instructors in France and the United States. Some of his earliest inspiration came in the form of animated feature-length cartoons and he has always been inspired by the work of great draftsmanship throughout the ages. He celebrates humor and the unexpected while painting under the influence of precisely controlled representation typified by paintings from the Renaissance to the mid-19th century. In recent years he has experimented with a more loose and expressive watercolor style by observing and painting from life.
“I explore flowers as the precious wonders of our lives bursting with promise. The backgrounds represent the mystery and intrigue of the outside world.”
